![]() ![]() If you forced me to make a decision I would probably choose the fairchild by a very slight margin like 55-45 or at the most 60-40. ![]() ![]() I know my comments dont really tell you which one I like better because i truly do like both of them a lot and would not want either one of them to go away.but using a compressor is very subjective in how it sounds to people so my advice would be to do some extensive testing while demoing both and listening to the mixes and see which one you actually prefer the most. I love both of them and while i am mostly using the fairchild on two buss these days I have no aversion what so ever to using the shadow hills on the two buss as well or in place of if the material calls for it. I own both and before i purchased the fairchild's I used the shadow hills on most of my two buss processing.since i bought the fairchild's I typically now use the shadow hills on some drum processing and most of the time the fairchild does the two buss compression for me.to my ears the shadow hills typically sounds a bit more aggressive even when used lightly in comparison to the fairchild.that could be a great thing for some source material or not, just depends on what you are looking for.
